In an attempt to get a little more control over my brewing, I have been looking my refractometer readings during the brewing process. Now that I have worked out how to calibrate my refractometer, this has turned out to be easier to do that I thought!

Here are the refractometer readings for brew 63 – a hoppy pale ale. With a correction factor of 0.96 (which I calculated previously – see here for details), the SG of 13 Brix equals 1.055. Spot on the predicted target SG for this brew! I used the online calculator at Brewers Friend to sort out the numbers for me!
