My beer is home made. Nothing more. Nothing less. It is brewed at home, by me, in West Yorkshire! I guess that’s why it is called “Home Brew”!

It just contains grain, hops, yeast and water. Hand-crafted in 5 gallon batches. Using the best ingredients I can find. Who would have thought it could be so much fun?

On my travels, I have come across a lot of different ideas – some of them from books or the Internet, others from fellow brewers. In my experience, I have found the brewing community to be very helpful and supportive – many of my ideas have actually come from commercial brewers who happily share their thoughts and experience. To all of them, I am forever grateful!

I experiment as much as I can – I am only brewing 5 gallons at a time, so what is the worst that can happen! I try to record as much of the detail as possible. The aim being to work out what works and what doesn’t! You will find the details of many of these experiments in the blog posts or in the batch notes.

Now, a critical part of the process is in the tasting (but you knew that!) – what’s the point in a clever process if the resulting beer doesn’t hit the mark? As a consequence, I tend to brew the beer that I like to drink! I like it clean, simple, and tasty. At the moment, I am particularly keen on hoppy IPAs!
